Dear Friends of the Mission,
Usually in warm weather our waiting list shrinks since homeless men are able to survive living outside — they will not freeze and quite often church and school groups will bring them food. In fact, the other day I was attending a meeting at the Central Branch of the Free Library of Philadelphia, and I saw a multitude of homeless men sleeping in the park across the street from the main entrance to the Free Library. This year is different for us — our waiting list is actually growing as the weather gets warmer. More and more homeless men want to become part of our New Life Rehabilitation and Job Readiness Program.
We believe that the word is getting out on the street that the Mission is a really good place to go for life-changing help. We are far more than a shelter, and we provide much more than a free meal. our beds are full, and as quickly as a bed becomes empty, it gets filled with a new man. Throughout the summer months, please continue to support us as generously as possible with your gifts. Even though our individual staff members may take vacation time off here and there throughout the summer, our New Life Program never takes a vacation — we are always here for the homeless men who come to our door desperately looking for help.
As always, thank you for your friendship and support. May God bless you abundantly.

Robert A. Emberger, D.Min.
