Whosoever Gospel Mission

Sharing God's Love Since 1892

More than a meal

The Mission serves three hearty, nutritious and balanced meals each day without charge to the 50 homeless men living at the Mission.  Three times a day, the dining hall turns into a place of joyful fellowship filled with laughter and good conversation as men who are working hard to overcome addictions, strengthen their educational, vocational and life skills, find a job, and save up for their own place enjoy a good hot meal around a table with friends.  Sometimes that meal can be exactly what’s needed to encourage a man to keep on pressing on in spite of obstacles.  Your support through cash donations as well as gifts of nonperishable food help to make this all possible. When you give, you’re giving more than a meal.  You’re giving hope – hope for a brighter tomorrow.

“I think the food here is nutritious with a nice balance (not too much of one food group).  Plus the cooks take pride in what they prepare.”

Our cost per meal: 25 cents (FREE for the men)

What we serve:
Every meal at the Mission is nutritious and well-rounded with plenty of fruits and vegetables.  For men coming in from a life on the streets, this is an essential step toward rebuilding health and wholeness.  From eggs and grits to French toast and sausage, from soup and toasted cheese sandwiches to spaghetti, from baked ham to roast turkey, from apples and bananas to chocolate chip cookies, you could say that we eat well!

How can we provide such good meals for just 25 cents?
Our meals are so inexpensive because of wonderful friends who donate tons of canned & nonperishable food items and gift cards to local supermarkets.  In addition, we get a lot of staple food items at low cost from the Philabundance Food Bank.  All of this combines to help create wonderful, balanced and plentiful meals for the amazingly low cost of about a quarter per meal!
