Today, Lonsy is employed, living independently and full of joy. He graduated from the Mission’s New Life Program over a year ago, and he’s still on track.
Lonsy’s journey to get to this point, however, was a very long and difficult one. Before coming to the Mission, Lonsy was homeless for many years, living on the streets of Germantown. Lonsy worked hard in the Mission’s New Life Program, and after a long and diligent yet unsuccessful job search, Lonsy went to school. After completing his schooling, he found permanent employment and began the process of preparing to graduate from the New Life Program. On October 31, 2011, Lonsy graduated and moved out from the Mission and into his own place.
This Thanksgiving, Lonsy came “home” to visit and share the day with the Mission family. At our chapel service that afternoon, Lonsy shared that while he was in the New Life Program, he couldn’t wait to get a job, graduate from the Program and move out on his own. But now that he’s on his own, he says he can’t wait to get back to the Mission to visit!
He frequently stops by the Mission to say hello, catch up with friends and see what’s going on. We rejoice with Lonsy in what God has done, and we’re always glad for a visit!
